Mago Estate Hotel – St Lucia
The perfect spot for lovers of the Caribbean who don't want to lie on a beach all day, the Mago Estate Hotel is perched between the Piton mountains, with fantastic hiking from the door. Take supper on the terrace for incredible views of the Pitons.
FROMMER'S REVIEW
This is a true Caribbean Shangri-La, ideal for a honeymoon. Just above the fishing village of Soufrière and overlooking the Pitons. A 5-minute walk from the beach, this property is surrounded by tropical trees, including mago (patois for mango), mahogany, papaya, maracuya (passion fruit), and banana. Each of the accommodations has only three walls; the other side of the room is open to a view of the mountains and sea. Guests sleep in four-poster beds underneath ceilings of painted clouds, with mosquito netting for protection from insects. Each unit comes with a spacious private terrace. The most desirable units are four large bedrooms with teakwood furnishings or handcrafted antiques along with plunge pools, hammocks, and large sliding doors opening to the terrace and pool.
